Photovoice is a photography exhibit with a twist! This project asked immigrant leaders from within the Latinx and Somali communities to document health issues they see firsthand in our communities through photographs and each make a policy recommendation based on their work.

We’d like to invite you to the first ever Rochester Healthy Community Partnership Photovoice exhibit: Through the Lens: Immigrant Perspectives on Health in Southeast Minnesota. This is a free event open to all community members, organizations, researchers, and more!
What: Over 3 months, Hispanic/Latino and Somali immigrant leaders in southeastern Minnesota learned photography skills and a process called Photovoice to document the health issues they see in our community. The goal of the project is to ensure that community members have a voice in shaping the policies and decisions that impact our health and lives.
When: Tuesday, March 5th 6:30-8:30 PM
Where: St. Mary’s University Rochester 2900 19th St NW, Rochester, MN 55901
What to expect:
- View beautiful, impactful photos that visually capture the healthcare assets and needs in our community from the perspective of Hispanic/Latino and Somali immigrants
- Talk to the Photovoice photographers about the stories behind the photos and associated policy recommendations
